EFT, or Emotional Freedom Technique, or “tapping” is a great healing modality that many people don't really know about. How do you do EFT? Simply, it’s finger tapping on certain points of your body while saying phrases, depending on what the issue you want to work on.
How Does EFT Tapping Work?
From an analytical/scientific point of view, EFT is similar to acupressure. Also, as you're doing the tapping on your body, you're training your subconscious mind to think differently. Your subconscious mind also is what regulates your bodily functions without you having to think about it (ie. blinking your eyes, breathing, etc.). As a result, you can manipulate your subconscious to heal your illnesses. The subconscious mind can also be affected by emotional and mental trauma, so EFT can help alleviate that as well.
From a spiritual and metaphysical point of view, there are certain points, certain meridians that run like long energy rivers throughout your body. EFT uses those energy meridians. When we experience trauma, hardship, heartache, whatever any kind of difficulty, it can create blockages in those energy rivers. Then they get blocked up, which in turn can create illness which can create further emotional and mental problems.
By tapping on these meridian points and saying the affirming phrases, you're retraining that energy pathway to be functional to flow properly and thus, removing the blockage. When you're tapping and opening these energy points in your body, it can help with whatever you're asking for such as depression or anxiety.
How Can Opening Up Energy Points Help With Something Like Depression, Anxiety, Or Confidence Issues?
I'm going to use the constipation example. Imagine being blocked up for days. Every day, you feel more fatigued. You start to become mentally stressed. You physically hurt from trying to go to the bathroom so much. You're frustrated, and it builds on that trauma of not being able to go to the bathroom because you're supposed to just be able to do it naturally.
Then, when you can finally go to the bathroom and are no longer constipated, you feel so relieved, and all of a sudden, the mental & emotional anguish you felt and the physical discomfort you felt from all that all goes away.
Just that comparison, your energy pathways get constipated. Emotions and the chakras are attached to all that. You can think of EFT Tapping as relieving energetic constipation. The relief you get is when you're no longer energetically constipated or blocked.
How Often Do You Need To Do EFT Tapping?
It depends on what you're going through. If you're dealing with chronic trauma or severe trauma, you probably should do it every day, or even several times a day. If you're just doing maintenance, you can do it once a week or a couple of times a month. In some cases, you can do it as many times a day as you need as you're working through something such as panic attacks or whatever else comes up along the way.
What Time Of The Day Is The Most Effective Time To Do It?
In the morning is great because you're setting yourself up to maximize your energy for that day. Right before you go to bed at night is great too. Not only can is it good to clear any chaotic or anxious energy you might’ve picked up along your way throughout that day, but the phrases you tell your subconscious mind at that time carry all throughout the night and embed in your mind as you sleep.
Can EFT Tapping Get Rid Of My Depression And Anxiety?
Yes, it may not be in the first session but it eventually can significantly reduce enough to potentially relieve your condition. However, you should always make sure that you're getting the appropriate medical treatment as well.
There have been cases where people have healed from lifelong issues with EFT Tapping. Of course, you may get triggered when you discover a trigger in the future that you didn't address yet, and then you may have to do EFT again. It can take a really long time to really address all the different triggers that you need to work through. Just like how you can't healthily lose 10 pounds in a month, you have to remember it’s not a one day fix. It’s a process.
